Trauma Regulation & Trauma Recovery

English version

Thank you for your interest in my practice. In my approach, you are always at the centre. Together, we work in sessions that are attuned to the physical and emotional stress symptoms you are experiencing at this moment.

This way of working helps you find more calm by learning to listen to what your body truly needs. We move at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you. Gradually, this creates more space and relaxation, allowing your symptoms to ease step by step. From this foundation, trauma recovery can unfold in a natural and sustainable way.

By following your pace and rhythm, you can begin to feel safe and truly seen. What you need is always our starting point. For this reason, I work flexibly, without fixed protocols or standard methods. We respond to what arises within you, moment by moment, through a body-oriented approach.

In each session, we support your nervous system in gently returning to balance. You will learn how to regulate stress yourself and how to strengthen your resilience, with the aim of full recovery. Our work takes place through the body: by paying attention to physical signals and sensations, we learn to release tension and build emotional stability.

Why body-oriented therapy?

Lasting change often does not come from talking alone. Body-oriented therapy helps release stress, tension, and emotions at their source. It is a deep and enduring form of work. This approach not only reduces mental and physical complaints, but also supports the development of a tangible sense of inner calm.

Who is it for?

Everyone is welcome - whether you are dealing with stress, tension, trauma, overload, or physical symptoms. You do not have to carry it on your own. During sessions, I use various body-oriented approaches that help your body and nervous system settle and unwind. This may include therapeutic touch on the treatment table, such as Touch-based Mind-Body Therapy and Myofascial Release Therapy. I also offer programmes in which you are seated across from me. In these sessions, we still work with the body, but without physical touch. We then combine body awareness exercises with cognitive insights and elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Expertise with uniformed services and veterans

I have a strong affinity with working with people in uniformed professions and with veterans. Within this group, this physical and safe form of therapy - where touch plays a central role - has proven to be particularly effective and well accepted in the recovery from PTSD symptoms. This approach goes beyond words: you do not need to talk about traumatic experiences. Instead, it helps you reconnect with a sense of safety and trust in your own body.

As a former Marine and veteran, I understand the unique pressures, experiences, and culture that come with uniformed professions. From my own experience, I do not know what it is like to live with PTSD, but many people in my close environment do. This has given me a deep familiarity with the world you come from. It is precisely this combination that allows me to connect quickly, offer recognition, and create a safe environment in which you can recover step by step.

Practical information

You are very welcome to call me, without obligation, if you have questions about my approach. I always schedule a short intake call of around 15 minutes, during which we explore together what you need and whether my way of working feels right for you.

I work from my practice space at home in Amsterdam, in a quiet and safe environment. A session typically lasts about two hours. Over the past years, I have guided many clients with trauma-related issues, both of the 'big T' and 'little t' types. Based on experience and scientifically supported knowledge, it has been shown that the autonomic nervous system can often recover surprisingly quickly when a person feels safe.

I hold a Master’s degree in Psychology (MSc Body Psychology and Body Psychotherapy, University of East London). My work is evidence-informed, grounded in current scientific insights and tailored to your individual process. Care, integrity, and respect are always at the foundation of my work.

So that you can experience calm again, without constant stress symptoms. So that traumatic memories no longer surface unexpectedly and the physical and emotional pain eases. So that you gain space for a new, hopeful perspective - and can live from who you truly are.
